Plot

Release
The film is set to premiere on May 16, 2012, as the opening film of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. It will be screened in competition. It will be released in regular French cinemas the same day. The American release is scheduled for May 25 through Focus Features.

The Expendables 2 is an upcoming 2012 American ensemble action film directed by Simon West, written by Sylvester Stallone and based on characters created by David Callaham. It is a sequel to the 2010 action film The Expendables, and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film is due to be released on August 17, 2012, by Lions Gate Entertainment.

Synopsis
After taking a seemingly simple job for Mr. Church (Bruce Willis), the Expendables find their plans going awry and one of their own is brutally murdered by rival mercenary Jean Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme). The Expendables set out into hostile territory — with their new members Bill the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) — to put a stop to a deadly weapon and gain their revenge against the villain who killed their brother.

The cast is rounded out by Chinese actress Yu Nan as Maggie, Charisma Carpenter who returns as Christmas's girlfriend Lacy, Swedish actress Amanda Ooms as Pilar, a sniper, and Nikolette Noel as Sophia, Billy's wife. Professional Tennis player Novak Djokovic has a cameo role as himself after being invited to participate by producer Avi Lerner.

Development
Prior to release, Stallone stated, "I have an idea ready to go" and "I'm going to try to do something that's quite radical". In an interview on August 15, 2010, he said that he does not have a new script yet, but "It's plotted out in my mind's eye." On April 18, 2011, Stallone confirmed that he would not be returning to direct or write The Expendables 2. David Agosto and Ken Kaufman have been hired to write the script based on a story by Stallone. Lionsgate confirmed at CinemaCon that the sequel will be in US theaters on August 17, 2012. A teaser poster for the film was released at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. It has been confirmed that Simon West will direct the sequel. On January 19, 2012, Stallone confirmed that the film was being aimed towards a PG-13 audience, meaning the film could be viewed by people above thirteen years of age and children below that age with parental permission, unlike the R-rating of the previous film which restricted the film to those over the age of seventeen. Speaking to Ain't It Cool News about the change, Stallone said "The PG-13 rumor is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level." It was reported that the change was requested by Norris before he would take part in the film, as he did not appreciate the swearing present in the script.
Filming

On a $100M budget, principal photography began on September 29, 2011, focusing on stunts with the central stars beginning filming on October 3. Filming was scheduled to take place over 14 weeks, with early filming taking place in Bulgaria at the Nu Boyana Film studios in Sofia, with additional filming occurring in the city of Plovdiv and the town of Bansko. Other filming locations included Russia, France and Hong Kong. A small portion of filming was done in New Orleans near the downtown area and the Crescent City Bridge. On October 9, Chuck Norris, Jason Statham and Arnold Schwarzenegger flew to Bulgaria to film their scenes. Filming was expected to conclude in January 2012, and by February 9, 2012, it was reported that The Expendables 2 had moved into post-production.

On October 27, 2011, while the 2nd Unit Stunt Team were filming on reservoir Ognyanovo, 15 miles outside of Sofia, stuntman Kun Lieu was killed and another, Nuo Sun, was left in critical condition during a staged explosion on a rubber boat. Sun underwent a five hour operation which left him in stable condition. Other Bulgarian filming locations included Devetashka Cave in Lovech Province. As part of filming at the cave, BGN600,000 (approximately $408,762) being spent to rebuild a 114 meter bridge crossing from the cave over the river Osam—only the concrete bridge columns remained of the original structure. Nu Boyana Film Studios announced that the bridge would remain after the completion of filming as a gift to Bulgaria.

Gangster Squad is an upcoming crime film directed by Ruben Fleischer,[2] and written by Will Beall. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, and Josh Brolin. The film is set to be released on October 19, 2012 by Warner Bros. Pictures. A trailer was released on May 9th, 2012

Synopsis
Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and—if he has his way—every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart.

The movie also stars Robert Patrick (“Flags of Our Fathers”) as Officer Max Kennard, a deadly cop who patrols the Olvera Street beat; Michael Peña (“Battle Los Angeles”) as Kennard’s over-eager sidekick, Navidad Ramirez; Giovanni Ribisi (“Avatar”) as the force’s Conway Keeler, an electronics expert who takes as much pleasure in fixing his son’s bike as he does tinkering with experimental, military-grade equipment; and Anthony Mackie (“The Adjustment Bureau”) as Coleman Harris, a switchblade-wielding cop who proudly patrols one of the most crime-ridden areas of the city.

Joining Fleischer behind the scenes are the director’s regular collaborators, production designer Maher Ahmad and editor Alan Baumgarten (“30 Minutes or Less,” “Zombieland”), as well as Academy Award®-winning director of photography Dion Beebe (“Memoirs of a Geisha”) and Oscar®-nominated costume designer Mary Zophres (“True Grit”).

Opening October 12, 2012, “The Gangster Squad” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Filming
Principal photography began on September 6, 2011 in Los Angeles. Sets were located all over L.A. County from north of the San Fernando Valley to south of the county border. Sets were also recreated in Sony Studios in Culver City. Filming wrapped on December 15, 2011.
