Marco Carola's Music On @ Amnesia - Ibiza 2012 Line Up Revealed
2012-05-13
Marco Carola is branding Amnesia the techno territory for Friday night in Ibiza. For 11 weekly events from 6th July – 14th September Marco will be making a fresh stamp on the Island.
This year Friday in Ibiza is set to become a key night in the clubbing calendar. Recognised global ambassador for techno, Marco Carola will be taking over Amnesia along with some carefully selected guests, from those that have helped shape the techno culture of today to those set to carve its direction for the future. Expect to witness some of the most skilled and accurate DJ sets yet.
With two successful years under his belt as a resident at Amnesia’s Monday night Cocoon, the time has come for Marco to create a party of his own that captures and expresses his vision of music. It’s an opportunity for him to showcase new, young and talented artists, while also supporting those respected names that he feels are still really good and relevant to the scene today. The concept will see the night start with one of Marco’s handpicked DJs performing a live set on The Terrace, warming up the crowd for an evening with the head honcho himself.
Other artists from his chosen few will soundtrack The Inside Room with a musical palette to satisfy the techno connoisseurs from across the globe.
Amnesia has been a home for Marco Carola since he solidified his residency spot in 2010, his experience there has had him label it one of the best clubs in the world. From an impeccable sound system to the most impressive light shows, it’s a club made to make everyone feel comfortable with two different rooms including, an amazing terrace that should be experienced by all.
"Music On represents me 100%; Music On is an extension of myself. Its greatest philosophy is to do everything for the love and passion of music. The soul is very important and the feelings give it that special touch, which makes you feel part of the history of music. Ibiza is the most important place in the world for music, it's where you have the best opportunity to project it to a global audience. It's a pleasure, a party that represents who I am, my vision alongside other artists who I also consider to be great representatives of the music nowadays." Marco Carola
This project is one that is very close to Carola’s heart, so much energy and passion has fed into making it a really special event, using the vast global experience of top DJs to create a night of world class mixes, with a genuine dedication to the techno scene.
MUSIC ON: Every Friday night at Amnesia from 6th July – 14th September 2012.
Steve Lawler announces his new world tour concept: LIFE | Press Release April 2012
2012-04-24
With a lengthy career deeply entwined in UK electronic music culture, Steve Lawler has announced his new world tour concept, carving yet a deeper place in the consciousness of the house music movement that plans to leave a unique mark of individuality throughout 2012.
Since its conception back in 2011, LIFE is a project that has certainly been a long time in the making. This year sees Steve Lawler taking things back to its original organic roots, presenting a unique and raw choice of locations from disused buildings, outdoors areas and unconventional spaces. Starting in New York these are carefully and painstakingly selected venues spread widely across some of the world’s most captivating cities.
Steve will travel to New York on May 12th to play host at an exceptional location, a unique outdoor space quite literally housed in a labyrinth of industrial shipping containers – downtown Brooklyn’s new and exciting community destination Dekalb Market.
Steve started out organizing some of the seminal early 90’s illegal raves, and later went on to residencies at Cream in Liverpool, Space in Ibiza and Twilo New York while touring the world extensively. Playing several different warehouse parties closer to home in the UK towards the end of 2011, has really inspired him to collaborate with promoters across the globe and assemble the LIFE concept.
LIFE see’s Steve Lawler fusing his enduring love of house music over the past two decades with a production and DJ style that walks a line between upfront sounds for main rooms and tough, percussive underground grooves for dark warehouses…
Forget shoddily crafted, luridly painted venues…
Hugely respectful of house music’s past Steve Lawler’s lays out 2012 pushing its traditions in new and unexpected directions, breathing LIFE into unusual non-club environments full to the brim with anticipation, excitement and energy.

Satoshi Tomiie's Popup Parties 2012
2012-04-23
For the last few years Japan's most successful DJ Satoshi Tomiie has quietly been working on new music, that it turns out, is perfectly suited to small rooms. As such in 2012, Satoshi will unveil all of his new work through a series of global intimate Popup parties. The first party will take place in Rome on April 10.
Satoshi has secretly been building up a bank of new special grooves - raw, deep house music, analogue rhythms and free melodies - that he is finally ready to unleash on dancefloors. The Satoshi Tomiie Popup parties will give dance music fans a chance to get up and close personal with one of the greats of house music, and experience his new dance music vision.
Satoshi Tomiie will play all-night at the exclusive Popup parties, where his sets will feature his new and unreleased music. The parties will take place only in small venues.
"I've worked hard on new music for the last couple of years, and I can't wait to finally unveil it all," said the Japanese producer and DJ. "I've always enjoyed playing in intimate spaces but I don't often get a chance to play them. This tour will give me an opportunity to showcase my new music at parties that are perfectly sized for my new sound."
Due to the intimate nature of Satoshi's Popup parties, the venues of the events will be kept secret from the public until only 48 hours prior to a Popup party taking place.
To coincide with the tour, Satoshi Tomiie will be releasing some of his new special grooves through a few select record labels. The first single from his new work, 'Straight Up', will be released on Systematic on May 12th 2012.
The venues and dates will be unveiled sporadically on: www.satoshitomiiepopup.com
It's a wrap... Time Warp 2012, the after movie
2012-04-19
watch: Time Warp Mannheim 2012 - Official Aftermovie
After changing the clocks on the previous weekend, the 31st of March saw a another leap in time in the context of electronic music. The Time Warp Mannheim had already received plenty of attention in advance for its exquisite line-up and promising design concepts. Last Saturday, the time had come. In addition to the international DJ elite, over 15,000 visitors from all over the world flooded the sold-out Maimarktgelände.
The theory of the "Global Village" is rarely as tangible as it is during the Time Warp weekend. More than 15,000 young people made their way to Mannheim on Saturday. Many made long journeys from neighboring European countries, and some even bridged continents – with about a dozen Time Warp fans traveling from Japan.
The fact that it would be worth the trip was already clear with a glimpse at this year's line-up. In addition to established stars of the techno scene such as Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier, there were also many newcomers and high-flyers on the program in 2012. Newly crowned as the "Best DJ of 2011", Jamie Jones made his Time Warp debut, as did the Berlin duo Pan-Pot or the live act Aka Aka feat. Thalstroem. Further heavyweights of the scene such as techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson or the British DJ legend John Digweed also caused a stir.
But experienced Time Warp guests know: The attraction of the event lies not only in the high-quality line-up. Stunning light and video shows, impressive stage design and spectacular performances have always been an integral part of any Time Warp. The organizers were particularly innovative in 2012: The main floor presented a room-spanning installation and computer-controlled LEDs in the futuristic look of a light cave. On Floor 1, the 3D mapping concept from last year was continued and extended with a specially made cube wall. For weeks, experts like the Portuguese VJ team Dubvideo Connection or the Hungarian video experts Ivo3D and Bordos worked on the calculation and animation of digital content.
The Maimarkthalle offered a unique audiovisual experience. "One of the most intense parties in the world" could be read on the Time Warp flyers – an assessment that was shared wholeheartedly by guests. Frantic applause thundered through the main floor as Cocoon boss Sven Väth began his set. It was no less euphoric on the other six floors. The grand finale was the performance by the Canadian Richie Hawtin, who traditionally ended the Time Warp with a six-hour marathon set
But not only the visitors were happy. The organizers consistently expressed their satisfaction. "Enthusiastic visitors, great artists – we are very glad that we were able to realize all our ideas and visions without any problems again this year, so that guests could have a unique experience in sound, lighting and video. We especially see it as a confirmation of our work that, despite the difficult financial situation in some countries, so many people from all over Europe have made their way here. The world comes to Mannheim – that's no exaggeration on the Time Warp weekend," said Marketing Director Robin Ebinger. Promoter Michael Hock also had a positive summary: "The event ran flawlessly from an organizational point of view. At this point I would especially like to thank the City of Mannheim and the local authorities such as the police, ambulance services, fire brigade and the MaHab for their excellent cooperation."
Along with the Time Warp, the week-long Jetztmusikfestival also now comes to an end. The cosmopop team will continue to offer the opportunity to make technical and musical visions a reality in the future. The 29th of September has been announced as the date for the next Time Warp Italy, and the Time Warp Holland is already pencilled in for December.
Paul van Dyk | EVOLUTION Arena @ South West Four [SW4] - August 25, 2012
2012-04-16
Whilst it could be said Paul van Dyk needs no introduction, the opposite is true here. Forget the coveted Grammy, consecutive DJ Mag Top 100 triumphs, his magnificent SW4 2007 headline performance and the seminal tracks that defined a generation. In 2012 Paul showcases his ground breaking new ‘Evolution’ album, a sonic masterpiece that has been five years in the making. A labour of love, which is to be celebrated by an arena line-up carefully curated by the man himself and who PvD personally feels have an affiliation with his ‘Evolution’ concept. All brought together with an extraordinary live show, which merges the soundtrack, imposing stage and hypnotic visuals into a collective dancefloor rite of passage. Forget Charles Darwin, this ‘Evolution’ is going to blow your mind.

Erick Morillo pres. Subliminal Sessions "Beautiful Reality" | Ibiza 2012
2012-04-13
Erick Morillo blurs the boundaries between fantasy and reality with Subliminal Sessions Ibiza 2012.
“This year Pacha will be a wonderful place where seductive, fleshy creatures parade around in extravagant head pieces luring spectators deeper into the Subliminal psyche” Erick Morillo
Subliminal Sessions has established a firm reputation as the islands premier house night, where quality music and the world’s best DJs play to a scorchingly sexy and fiery crowd. With colossal residents including Chuckie, Sympho Nympho and Danny Tenaglia, you know that Pacha’s dance floor is going to be an explosive and high octane place to be this summer.
In today’s world of superstar DJs, big business and brands, there is often an important ingredient that is overlooked in clubbing. It’s this important ingredient that Erick Morillo brings to Ibiza every single summer – that no holds barred party vibe. The best clubs the world over are where the musical rules and restrictions go out the window and you know that you are going to have the best time. It’s no secret that Erick Morillo can cause anarchy on the dance floor and he will make sure that when you see him LIVE you will experience exactly what we are talking about.
The line up as ever is powerful and will include Morillo’s newest project Sympho Nympho - the brand new trio of dance music’s most respected players Jose Nunez, Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero and Erick Morillo. The Dutch ‘king of mixing’ Chuckie is Subliminal’s resident wingman for the season and he’ll be bringing with him that famous Dirty Dutch sound. New York super legend Danny Tenaglia also joins Morillo for various dates throughout the summer, culminating in an EXCLUSIVE ‘Be Yourself’ party where he will take over Subliminal Sessions for the entire night on Aug 29th. And if that’s not enough, you can expect appearances from Carl Kennedy, Norman Doray, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, AN21, Max Vangeli, Steve Angello, Sneaky Sound System and more still to be announced.
When you’ve been out burning the candle at both ends the world becomes a little blurry, your senses are heightened and everything is not exactly as it seems. This is the feeling that has inspired the ‘Beautiful Reality’ theme this season. The venue will be transformed into a surrealist wonderland, with stairways and doors leading to erotic fantasies of the unconscious mind.
Subliminal Sessions is without doubt the ultimate party you can experience in Ibiza. Expect a venue as beautiful as the crowd within, and an electric atmosphere featuring the world’s biggest DJs. Subliminal Sessions will get into your head and they will make sure you can’t possibly resist.
